Horses have been an integral part of our family for the seven generations we have lived on this farm. Col. Richard H. Dulany, Josh’s great-great-great grandfather, founded both the oldest foxhunt (Piedmont) and the oldest colt-and-horse show (Upperville) in the United States. Our family purchased the property in 1830, and it has been a working farm ever since.

Welbourne has remained a flagship estate in the drive for sustainable land use and historic preservation. As such, the property has been preserved forever through both through land easements and the sale of all future development rights. See welbourneinn.com for further history.
